Abracadabra

Abracadabra

48" x 20"

birch panel, copper oxide stain, oil paint, Lokta paper (hand made in Nepal), and glue

My new studio has a garage door! We like this door. As if by magic, a new painting emerged from an old painting. A little show of beauty in our achy world.

Sending flower faeries flying full of fancy....

and love

Not A Garland / Not Not A Garland

Not A Garland / Not Not A Garland

40" x 60"

lime plaster, ground glass, copper oxide, indigo, chalk, and acrylic paint on canvas

This painting has been a work in process since 2021. As its ingredients bump up against each other, merge, retreat, step forward and change, I watch and make micro adjustments.

I hope that I have nurtured it enough that it will bring joy wherever it travels.

In October 2023 Not A Garland/Not Not A Garland will be sold at the Burchfield Penny (716) Art Auction.

As I say goodbye to this friend, my wish is that it will be a source of friendship for whomever buys it.

From Earth to Art

From Earth to Art

48" x 20"

birch panel, copper oxide stain, oil paint, Lokta paper (hand made in Napal), and glue

The materials of art are ingredients which, when brought together, act as catalysts for transformation.

This is a primal relationship.

In the making process a painting rises and falls, develops complexity and surrenders to simplicity and in the end it is what it is.

June 2023

Is it possible to look at a picture and not analyze it, not classify it and not name it? So much hidden beauty is lost when we experience only through our intellect.

With appreciation to my little teacher, René, whose joy is contagious (as are his colds).

Ah ah ah choooo!

A Wave Is Made Of Water

"A Wave Is Made Of Water"

38" x 28"

lime plaster, indigo, oil paint, saffron water, & gold leaf

I have changed this painting often. Twice after I framed it and now, again, over the past month. An evolution from cradle to cradle. Dedicated to my a dear friend, Melissa, who passed this month.

A wave is made of water

And when its waviness is gone

It is still water

Ground,Water, Snow, Mist, Sky

"Ground, Water, Snow, Mist, Sky"

24" x 18”

lime plaster, graphite powder, chalk paint, & glue

Every new year I am reminded that I love winter! Snow is a flutter of 6 pointed miracles - darkness, a womb of potential. The sun is hiding, but I know it is there.

Sending thoughts of love from a warm heart.
